AUR has announced that it has not gathered the necessary signatures for the suspension of Nicușor Dan

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) declared that it will have a clear picture of the number of parliamentarians supporting the initiative to suspend President Nicușor Dan only in February. AUR deputy Ștefăniță Avrămescu mentioned that the initiative of the Peace group – Together Romania currently has 120 signatures, with the potential to reach 140. AUR will continue discussions with sovereignist parties to gather the 155 signatures needed.

Anamaria Gavrilă, president of POT, condemned this request, stating that she will not sign until Mr. Georgescu is allowed to run for president. The initiative to suspend the president is motivated by accusations of interference in justice, and the suspension procedure is regulated by the Constitution, requiring the vote of the parliamentary majority.
