The mayor of Arad, Călin Bibarț, announced that public transport will cost 1 leu per day, the project having all the necessary approvals to be voted in the Municipal Local Council.

This project comes after the acquisition of 10 new trams, model Imperio, with European funding, so the city now has 53 modern units. Bibarț emphasized that Arad is almost fully equipped with new trams, although two lines still use old trams. To have a completely new fleet, the city needs about 10 more trams, for which funding will be sought. The pricing project aims to make public transport a viable alternative to personal cars, considering the rising fuel prices. The estimated budget impact for 2025 is 6 million lei, under conditions where the sector is heavily subsidized.
