ANSVSA announces the vaccination of sheep and goats by October 1 to resume exports to six major markets

The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) announces that the vaccination of sheep and goats in Romania will begin no later than October 1, as part of the Action Plan to unblock sheep exports. The measure aims to resume exports of live animals to six important markets.

Vaccines against sheep and goat pox will be administered in all counties across the country. In the case of Peste des Petits Ruminants, vaccination will be carried out in the counties of Constanța and Tulcea.

Once the measures have been implemented and safe maritime and air routes established, Romania will be able to resume exports to Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Israel and Libya. The plan was agreed with European experts and presented to the member states.

ANSVSA states that the measures do not affect trade in meat, carcasses, milk and dairy products originating from disease-free areas. Slaughterhouses and processing plants are operating without restrictions, according to the veterinary authority.
