The emergency immunization campaign for sheep and goats begins on Sunday, October 25, in the counties of Constanța and Tulcea, one day earlier than initially scheduled. The decision was made after the latest batches of vaccines from the European Union’s strategic stocks arrived in Romania ahead of schedule.
The operation is coordinated by the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, with the support of the Government and specialists in the field. The receipt of the doses was approved during a special meeting, and the authorities decided to begin vaccination immediately, without waiting for the date originally scheduled for completion of the shipment.
ANSVSA President Alexandru Bociu will oversee the launch of the campaign in Constanța County and will subsequently travel to Tulcea to coordinate logistical and medical measures. The authority says that every hour gained helps protect livestock and create the conditions for the reopening of live-animal exports to third countries.
Meanwhile, temporary restrictions on the movement of sheep and goats within Romania remain in force. The measures are intended to prevent the spread of disease and limit risks to farms across the country.
