The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) has started inspections at gas stations following recent fuel price increases. Inspectors are analyzing the commercial markups from the last three months and comparing this data with the average from 2025.

The president of ANPC, Bekesi Csaba Lajos, stated on Digi24 that economic operators can increase prices only once a day, until 12:00 PM, and any subsequent increase will be penalized. According to him, ANPC has already identified numerous irregularities, including price increases after the deadline, which has led to fines of at least 100,000 lei.

Bekesi emphasized that there is no possibility of warnings, and penalties are applied strictly according to the legislation.
