An Alba ITM inspector was sent to trial after allegedly warning companies about inspections and showing them how to avoid penalties

A labour inspector with the Alba Labour Inspectorate has been indicted for allegedly disclosing confidential information about unannounced and thematic inspections over nearly five years. Prosecutors claim he warned representatives of companies in the county, including on the morning of inspections or the day before, thereby undermining the purpose of the checks.

The inspector is Doru-Călin Negru, 52, accused of 53 offences involving the disclosure of confidential or non-public official information. The alleged offences were committed between 14 September 2021 and 12 March 2026, while the indictment was drawn up on 23 September 2026. The case was sent to the Alba Tribunal.

According to investigators, the inspector allegedly told employers which documents were due to be checked, including timesheets, payroll records, employment contracts and occupational health and safety training forms. In some cases, he allegedly suggested that they cite reasons for postponing the inspections, such as illness, leave or being away from the locality.

Of the total charges, 13 were committed as continuing offences, involving 74 individual acts. The companies concerned operated in places including Blaj, Sebeș, Aiud, Cugir and Câmpeni. Prosecutors claim that some inspections were no longer carried out after the employers had been warned.

The inspector has been under judicial supervision since 15 July 2026 and may not leave the country without the prosecutor’s approval or contact witnesses and representatives of the companies concerned. The allegations will be examined by the court.
