A survey conducted by Ipsos for the streaming platform Deezer revealed that 97% of the 9,000 respondents were unable to distinguish between music completely generated by artificial intelligence and that created by humans in a blind test. The study, carried out between October 6-10 in eight countries, showed that nearly half of the participants believe that AI can help them discover new songs, but the majority are pessimistic about its impact on the quality of music. 51% of respondents believe that AI will generate lower quality songs, and 64% think it will lead to a loss of creativity in music production. Deezer, the only platform that systematically highlights AI-generated tracks, has observed a significant increase in these, from 10% to 34% of the total tracks delivered in a day. Although the popularity of AI music is on the rise, it still represents a small proportion of listens.
