Ahold Delhaize will sell 87 stores to Annabella in order to get approval for its acquisition of the Profi chain, following a decision by the Competition Council.

Ahold Delhaize, which owns Mega Image, has decided to sell 87 stores to Romanian chain Annabella as part of the conditions imposed by the Competition Council for the €1.3 billion takeover of the Profi network. Annabella, a major player in Romanian food retail, will integrate these stores under its own brand, thus strengthening its market presence. The transaction, which includes 82 Profi stores and 5 Mega Image stores, is expected to be finalized by the end of 2025. Annabella reported business growth of 13% in 2024, with a network of over 100 supermarkets.
