The Dutch-Belgian group Ahold Delhaize temporarily shut down some of its IT systems after identifying a cybersecurity incident in its network in the United States. The measure was taken to limit the spread of the problem and protect the company’s infrastructure and data.
The incident initially affected certain brands, pharmacies and e-commerce services of the Ahold Delhaize USA division. The company said its teams are assessing the situation and working to fix the disruptions, while some systems have been taken offline. Stores in the United States remained open.
The preventive decision also had effects in Europe. In the Netherlands, the Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall & Gall chains reported problems with websites, apps, home deliveries, logistics and customer service.
In Romania, Mega Image and Profi, which are controlled by the group, have issued no alerts and continue to operate normally. Ahold Delhaize operates more than 1,000 Mega Image stores and approximately 3,400 Profi stores here. The group also owns the AD/01 technology studio in Bucharest, which develops solutions for e-commerce, data and loyalty programs. The company operates more than 7,700 stores globally and serves approximately 63 million customers every week.
