The former Minister of Health, Vlad Voiculescu, and the interim Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, had an exchange of words regarding the dispute between the Romanian state and the Pfizer company concerning the purchase of anti-COVID-19 vaccines.
Vlad Voiculescu accused Rogobete of mishandling the negotiations with the company's representatives and criticized the way the authorities approached the case.
In response, Alexandru Rogobete rejected the accusations and stated that he participated in the negotiations with Pfizer based on a mandate granted by the Government, in the interest of Romania. He claimed that the responsibility for the current situation lies with the decisions made during the pandemic, when large quantities of vaccines were contracted, and accused Voiculescu of trying to divert attention from his own role in managing the acquisitions.
In April 2026, the Romanian Government mandated Rogobete, together with Alexandru Nazare, to negotiate with Pfizer to resolve the debt of 600 million euros. At the same time, ROMATSA was notified by EUROCONTROL regarding a measure of enforcement following a procedure initiated by Pfizer Romania SRL.
