An 18-year-old Romanian with dual citizenship is among the victims of the devastating fire in the resort of Crans-Montana, Switzerland, which occurred on New Year's Eve. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the Romanian Embassy in Bern is in contact with ”the family of a Romanian citizen presumed missing following the fire.
Swiss authorities have begun the process of identifying the bodies, considering that approximately 40 people died in the fire that engulfed a crowded bar. The identification of the victims will take time due to the severity of the burns. Italy and France have also reported missing citizens, and the Italian foreign minister will visit the area. Romania is part of a humanitarian group that supports Swiss authorities in managing the situation.
