A road bridge in the Prahova commune of Izvoarele was swept away by the waters of the Teleajen River, leaving the village of Cernești, with 158 inhabitants, completely isolated. The public administrator of the county, Emil Drăgănescu, announced on Facebook that access to the community is extremely difficult, with risky alternative solutions available. Mayor Ioan Paul Grigore explained that locals are traveling on the crown of a dike, which is narrow and dangerous, and ambulances and fire trucks cannot pass. Currently, children are being transported by minibus from a cable bridge. The bridge was destroyed on Friday, and the mayor stated that the current solution is temporary. For the construction of a new bridge, the local administration estimates a cost of approximately 2.5 million lei and hopes to obtain funds from the Government's reserve.
