67-year-old man arrested for killing a cat with an air gun

The animal protection police in Mureș detained a 67-year-old man from Târgu Mureș on Friday, suspected of killing a cat in February 2026, using an air gun.

The investigation began after the police took notice of the case following the appearance of images on social media showing the shot animal's corpse. According to the Mureș County Police Inspectorate, the investigations were carried out under the supervision of the case prosecutor, and the man was identified as the main suspect.

The legally held weapon was seized by the police for further investigation. The man was detained for 24 hours, and the investigation continues to document the entire criminal activity, with the acts of intentional animal killing and illegal use of a weapon being investigated.
