The case in Ponorâta, Maramureș, was discussed at a meeting on social inclusion, where it was learned that 50 children are pregnant, only three of whom are in school. The Maramureș county inspectorate suspects a link between this situation and the introduction of a 700 lei scholarship for underage mothers, which could encourage early pregnancies. The authorities admit they are overwhelmed by the seriousness of the problem.
