A woman from Iași County was placed under house arrest for 30 days after allegedly trying to persuade a minor, the alleged victim in a rape case, to withdraw her statements. The woman is being investigated for influencing statements.
The acts allegedly took place between July 28 and August 14, 2026. According to prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Hârlău District Court, the defendant allegedly offered the minor more than 1,500 lei on the spot and promised her 10,000 euros and a car.
In return, the girl was allegedly supposed to give an authentic notarized statement and send the Prosecutor’s Office a handwritten statement supporting a version intended to help the alleged rapists escape prosecution. In the rape case, the suspects had already been detained and placed in pre-trial detention.
The prosecutor requested that the woman be placed in pre-trial detention for 30 days, but the judge for rights and freedoms at the Hârlău District Court ordered house arrest. The Public Ministry challenged the decision, and the measure is to be reviewed by the competent court.
