Gendarmes detained 30 people who allegedly behaved violently at the protest held on Tuesday in Victory Square in Bucharest. The people were taken to several police stations for checks and the implementation of legal measures.
The Bucharest Police announced that it had also launched an investigation ex officio into images that appeared in the public domain, in which two journalists were allegedly physically assaulted during the protest. Police officers are carrying out checks to establish the facts and identify the people suspected of committing the assaults.
At present, the authorities are taking steps to locate the suspects and bring them to the headquarters of a police subunit. The investigation aims to clarify the incidents that occurred during the demonstration and establish liability, depending on the evidence gathered.
The Bucharest Police has not yet provided details regarding the identity of the detained people, the exact nature of the acts, or any measures that may have been ordered in their case.
