19 defendants are on trial for assault, destruction and disturbing public order, following the violent protests at the BEC headquarters on March 9-10, 2025, when supporters of Călin Georgescu reacted violently to the invalidation of his candidacy. One defendant is under house arrest and 18 under judicial control. In the violence, 10 gendarmes were injured and TV cameras were destroyed. The protest was marked by incitement to violence, including inciting messages from political leaders.
