The Bösendorfer Imperial piano at Radio Hall, one of the largest and most prestigious concert pianos in the world, will be put back into use after 15 years of inactivity. The instrument will be specially refurbished for the “Vienna x Gershwin” concert, scheduled for November 28 at Radio Hall in Bucharest.
The refurbishment will include a complete technical overhaul and the full restoration of the piano’s action, enabling it to support a major event once again. The work is necessary to restore the instrument to optimal operating parameters and to showcase its tonal characteristics.
The Bösendorfer Imperial is a rare model, known for its size and extended range. There are only two instruments of this type in Romania accessible to the public. Once the work is completed, the piano will return to the Radio Hall stage as part of the concert dedicated to the meeting of Viennese music and the work of George Gershwin. Its return to service marks the comeback of an iconic instrument after a lengthy period of disuse.
