The Romanian Cultural Institute in London celebrates 20 years of activity with an anniversary evening on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., at its headquarters at 1 Belgrave Square. The event includes the opening of the exhibition “PAST FORWARD: 20 Years of Romanian Culture in London” and a concert by the Unicorn Frequency ensemble, led by Romanian-British violinist Bogdan Văcărescu.
Opened in November 2006, ICR London has become one of the main platforms for promoting Romanian culture in the United Kingdom. The institute organizes, on average, more than 70 events annually, ranging from concerts, exhibitions and film screenings to book launches, theater performances and debates.
Over the past two decades, the Belgrave Square headquarters has hosted international artists, Nobel laureates and members of the British and Romanian royal families. Representative projects include the Enescu Concert Series, participation in the London Book Fair, the “Circular Catalysts” collaboration and projects dedicated to the Dacians on Hadrian’s Wall and Queen Marie.
The exhibition brings together photographs by Cristian Alexa, Inno Brezeanu, Alexandru Coman and Răzvan Dănăilă and will be open to visitors until December 5, 2026. The Unicorn Frequency concert will combine Romanian and Balkan folk music with Greek, Italian and European influences.
