Sebastian Stan revealed that he was offered the role of Stefan Salvatore in “The Vampire Diaries,” but turned it down after his difficult experience with the series “Kings,” which was canceled by NBC after just one season in 2009. The actor feared that the new supernatural production would not make it to a second season, especially since he had previously appeared in the similarly themed film “The Covenant.”
The series, starring Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, and Nina Dobrev, became a success and ran for eight seasons, from 2009 to 2017. Stan, who later became famous as Bucky Barnes in the Marvel universe, says he does not regret the decision, believing that his career unfolded as it was meant to.
