Actor Ryan Reynolds visited Romania for the first time and attended Impact SEE 2026, a business and technology event held in Bucharest, where he spoke about his childhood, career, business ventures and the projects that turned him into one of Hollywood’s best-known actors.
More than 700 people attended the conversation moderated by journalist Andreea Esca. Reynolds said he feels a connection to Romania through his experience of growing up modestly and described humor as a defense mechanism for him. The actor also explained how his success was built gradually, without initially having high expectations; his only goals were to buy an apartment and a car.
Reynolds spoke about the Deadpool series, in which he is also involved as a screenwriter, as well as the lessons he learned after the failure of the film Green Lantern. He argued that excessively large budgets can limit creativity.
The actor also presented the evolution of Maximum Effort, the company he founded in 2018, as well as his experience with Welsh club Wrexham AFC, which he bought alongside Rob McElhenney in 2021. According to Reynolds, the team’s success also helped increase interest in the local community.
