The film, directed by Olivier Assayas, features Vadim Baranov, played by Paul Dano, a strategist inspired by Vladislav Surkov, known as the 'gray eminence' of Russian politics.

The trailer suggests a cynical approach to geopolitics, aiming to create chaos and build the myth of Russian control over the modern world. Alicia Vikander plays the role of Ksenia, Baranov's wife, and the cast includes actors such as Will Keen and Jeffrey Wright. The film premiered on August 31, 2025, at the Venice Film Festival, receiving a 12-minute standing ovation. Although it has been showcased at festivals, the general release in theaters in France took place in January 2026, and it will be available in North America on May 15. In Romania, the release date is not yet set, but the film is expected to reach theaters later this year.
