Valentin Crebu achieved his best placement at the Olympic Games, finishing in 12th place with a total time of 3:34.986 minutes, 3.795 seconds behind the winner, the German Max Langenhan, who set a new track record. Langenhan, the reigning world champion, won his first Olympic medal after finishing 6th in the previous edition. The podium also included the Austrian Jonas Mueller and the Italian Dominik Fischnaller.


Crebu had a consistent performance in the four runs, placing 12th, 13th, 11th, and 19th, with start times between 3.568 and 3.576 seconds and a maximum speed of 127.2 km/h. His best run was in the third heat, with a time of 53.526 seconds. Eduard-Mihai Crăciun, a debutant at the Olympic Games, finished in 23rd place, not qualifying for the final heat reserved for the top 20 athletes.
