Several European federations, including UEFA, are considering boycotting the World Cup if FIFA President Gianni Infantino does not abandon the plan to sell part of the new FIFA Forward Enterprise subsidiary, valued at 20 billion dollars, to private investors.

UEFA will hold an emergency meeting to discuss this issue, considering that European federations were not informed about FIFA's strategy prior to the official announcement. UEFA criticized the proposal, stating that it exceeds acceptable limits and that the governance of football should not be treated as a commercial asset.

Tensions between UEFA and FIFA have intensified, and UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has expressed his dissatisfaction with Infantino's leadership. FIFA, on the other hand, claims that the new structure will allow for larger sums to be distributed to member federations, but UEFA's opposition could severely impact the commercial success of the World Cup.
