The silver trophy awarded to the Füchse Berlin club for winning the German men's handball championship in 2025 was stolen in November and subsequently melted down, confirmed the club's director, Bob Hanning. In a statement, Hanning mentioned that the trophy was found, but only a silver ingot resulting from the melting remains. The Berlin police announced the arrest of two men, aged 41 and 62, following searches conducted in several districts of Berlin and in Brandenburg.
During these operations, valuable items were confiscated, including gold, cash, and a melting furnace. Although the police have not confirmed whether the melted ingot is the same as the stolen trophy, the investigation continues, and one of the suspects has been released, while the other remains in preventive custody.
