Police, prosecutors and tax inspectors in Germany searched two properties in the Offenbach district, Hesse, on Wednesday, September 30, as part of an investigation into alleged tax fraud, fraud involving the sale of used cars and the illegal acquisition of social benefits. Two people were arrested.
The operation targeted four suspects, three of them Romanian citizens and one Belgian, aged between 26 and 46. According to investigators, they allegedly ran a luxury car business from a villa in Rödermark, using companies registered abroad as well.
During the searches, which involved approximately 30 police officers and tax inspectors, luxury cars, watches, jewelry, designer bags and tens of thousands of euros in cash were seized. Investigators claim that the suspects allegedly tried to conceal evidence by throwing black bags over the fence toward neighbors.
The case concerns alleged damages of 324,000 euros resulting from unpaid VAT between May 2023 and April 2026. One suspect is also being investigated for tampering with odometers, an offense that allegedly generated an estimated gain of 34,000 euros. Other allegations concern social benefits worth approximately 36,000 euros, obtained by failing to declare income. All the facts are to be clarified by the German authorities.
