Liverpool's team coach, Arne Slot, criticized the "stupid" gesture of Hugo Ekitike, who received a red card in the match against Southampton, with a score of 2-1. Ekitike was introduced in the second half after Alexander Isak, purchased for a record sum of 125 million pounds, scored the first goal of the match. After Ekitike scored the winning goal, he received a second yellow card for taking off his shirt in a provocative manner, thus being sent off.
