Hungarian goalkeeper Peter Gulácsi was the victim of an armed robbery at his home in the Monasterios residential area, in the Valencian town of Puçol, in the early hours of Tuesday. The footballer was at home with his partner and children, but no one was injured.
According to the Associated Press, four masked and armed individuals broke into the home and threatened Gulácsi with a gun. The attackers allegedly forced him to open a safe, then fled with valuables and two luxury cars. The robbery reportedly lasted approximately one hour.
The incident was confirmed by the Government Delegation in the Valencian Community and announced by Villarreal. Police have opened an investigation, and the suspects remain at large.
Gulácsi was affected by the incident and was not included in Villarreal’s squad for Tuesday’s match against Napoli, which the Spanish team won 3-1, in the Champions League. The club stated that the competent authorities were informed immediately.
The case recalls the attempted robbery suffered in February 2024 by former Villarreal player Étienne Capoue at his home in Bétera, while he was at home with his family.
