The celebrations related to the World Cup in Spain caused a seismic wave, recorded by seismographs in several cities, after Ferran Torres' goal and at the final whistle of the match.

The Geoscience Center in Barcelona confirmed that the vibrations were caused by the joy of the supporters, who celebrated the national team's second world title.

Researchers analyzed data from the National Geographic Institute and the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia, observing unusual signals in cities such as Algeciras, Barcelona, Cádiz, and Granada. Three peaks of activity were detected during the match, including after Torres' goal and at the final whistle. These movements are an example of "induced seismicity" by human activity, demonstrating the impact of collective emotions on the environment.

Similar vibrations were also recorded following Spain's victory at Euro 2024.
