The Spanish Federation extended Luis de la Fuente’s contract / The head coach will prepare Spain for the next 3 final tournaments

The Royal Spanish Football Federation officially announced on Monday that head coach Luis de la Fuente’s contract has been extended until 2032. The 65-year-old coach will continue to lead the national team, “La Roja,” with the 2030 World Cup, hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, as the main objective of the new agreement.

The contract extension had been expected for several days, but the agreement was only formalized on Monday by the Madrid-based governing body. Through the new contract, the Spanish Federation is expressing its confidence in the continuity of the sporting project led by De la Fuente and ensuring stability for the national team in the coming years.

Royal Spanish Federation president Rafael Louzán said the proposal is based on a multi-year project focused on major competitions and tournaments. The official described Luis de la Fuente as the most decorated coach in the history of Spain’s national team and argued that he deserves a long-term future at the helm of the representative side.

De la Fuente will therefore remain head coach throughout the preparation and qualifying stages for the major tournaments preceding the 2030 edition, which will also be hosted by Spain. The contract is valid until 2032.
