Halep explained that she made the difficult decision not to play in Madrid because her body is not yet ready for the WTA circuit. She thanks the organizers for the wild card and her fans. However, three Romanians - Ana Bogdan, Sorana Cîrstea and Irina Begu - will be taking part in Madrid.
