The red and blue team saved a disappointing season in the Superliga, after the squad coached by Marius Baciu managed to impose itself against rival Dinamo, with a score of 2-1, after extra time, in the playoff final for European cups. The first corner of the red and blue team also brought the opening score at the Arch of Triumph: a corner kick taken by Tavi Popescu at semi-height was deflected into Epassy's net by Joyskim Dawa.
In the second half, the Dinamo players recovered, and Kopic's inspiration brought the equalizing goal, as he played Karamoko into the game in the 64th minute. The Frenchman was in the right place at the right time, and in the 73rd minute, Karamoko restored parity with a shot from the box.
Epassy intervened excellently at Florin Tănase's free kick in the 77th minute, and as the 90 minutes ended 1-1, the match went into two extra time halves. The first half of extra time brought good chances for both teams: Darius Olaru and Florin Tănase created danger in the Dinamo box, while at Târnovanu's goal, Cîrjan could not decisively deflect a wrong execution from Armstrong.
The third goal of the match was scored in the first minutes of the second half of extra time: coming off the bench, Ofri Arad, a player harshly criticized by owner Gigi Becali, scored for 2-1 from inside the box.
Dinamo could not come back on the scoreboard, and FCSB won 2-1, thus playing for the 24th consecutive season in European cups. Dinamo marks its tenth year without presence in continental competitions.
