The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced that Bucharest has submitted its bid to host the UEFA Europa League final in 2028, signing the file in support of the Romanian Football Federation.
Funds have been allocated in the local budget for the necessary repairs at the National Arena, where accessibility works and the replacement of the video cube will take place next year, without affecting the competition schedule. The announcement comes after the first meeting of the Interministerial Committee, which took place on April 2, to finalize the bid.
UEFA will analyze the bids and announce the host cities for 2028 and 2029 in June. Bucharest previously hosted the Europa League final in 2012, when Atletico Madrid won the trophy.
