The Romanian Handball Federation has announced that Romania will host the IHF Women's Youth World Championship (U18) from July 29 to August 9, 2026, the decision being made by the International Handball Federation (IHF) on December 19, 2025. The competition will take place in the cities of Mioveni, Pitești, Craiova, and Râmnicu Vâlcea, with the final phase held in Pitești. The awarding of this tournament highlights the professionalism and organizational capacity of the Romanian Handball Federation.
Additionally, Romania has secured four key positions in the IHF and EHF committees, including the reconfirmation of Narcisa Lecușanu in the IHF Executive Committee. The president of FRH, Constantin Din, stated that organizing this championship is a recognition of the efforts made and a responsibility to deliver a high-quality competition. Romania will also host other major competitions in 2026, including the U20 European Youth Championship and the Senior Women's European Championship.
