According to some sources, Răzvan Lucescu, the coach of the PAOK team, has been contacted by the president of Beșiktaș, Serdal Adali, to take over the technical leadership of the club in Istanbul, after the departure of Sergen Yalcin. Journalist Ismail Er stated that the chances of Lucescu accepting the offer are 51%, emphasizing that he is the favorite for this position. Although Lucescu has a contract with PAOK until 2027, he may be willing to negotiate with other clubs, depending on the intentions of owner Ivan Savvidis. Răzvan Lucescu has a release clause of 4 million euros for clubs in Eastern Europe and 2 million for those in the West. Additionally, Al-Ettifaq from Saudi Arabia could be another option for the coach.
However, the press in Greece suggests that Lucescu would prefer to finish his contract with PAOK, but he might consider external offers.
