Rafael Jodar, a 19-year-old Spanish tennis player, won his first title on the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) circuit on Sunday, defeating Argentine Marco Trungelliti 6-3, 6-2 on the clay court in Marrakech, in a match that lasted one hour and 8 minutes.
This victory will propel Jodar to 57th place in the world rankings, his best position so far, considering he entered the professional circuit only in December.
Previously ranked 89th, he becomes the sixth Spanish player in the Open era to win a title before turning 20, joining great names like Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz. On the other hand, Trungelliti, the 36-year-old player, will rise to 73rd place, becoming the oldest player to enter the top 100 for the first time, a remarkable achievement in his career.
