The Mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, announced that 1,000 tickets for this summer's World Cup will be available for city residents at a price of $50. These tickets will be distributed through a lottery starting on May 25, and each of the seven matches at MetLife Stadium will have approximately 150 tickets available. The tickets include free round-trip bus transportation to the stadium.
Mamdani emphasized that the initiative aims to include working residents, ensuring that they can participate in an important sporting event. He also urged FIFA to lower ticket prices for New Yorkers, and the $50 tickets come from the allocations of the organizing committee for New York and New Jersey.
The matches will begin on June 13, and MetLife Stadium will host both group stage matches and knockout stage matches.
