Mladen Bartulovic, the coach of Metalist 1925 Kharkiv, confirmed that his team was interested in midfielder Cătălin Cîrjan, but denied that a 4 million euro offer had been made, as claimed by Dinamo president Andrei Nicolescu. The latter stated that his team would accept a sum of 5 million euros for the player. Shortly after these statements, Cîrjan chose to extend his contract with Dinamo until 2029, having a release clause of 5 million euros.

"Everything that has been written about Cătălin Cîrjan, especially the transfer fee of four million euros, is largely a fabrication. We were interested in him, indeed, but things did not go further," Bartulovic stated to the Ukrainian publication tribuna.ua.
