Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate would like to buy the Continental Hotel in Cluj / The reaction of the City Hall

Bros Andrew and Tristan Tate, involved in criminal investigations for human trafficking and rape, announced their intention to buy the Continental Hotel in Cluj-Napoca for the sum of 13 million dollars and to rename it "Tate Hotel". In return, the Cluj City Hall, led by Mayor Emil Boc, stated that it would activate the state's right of preemption, considering that the property is a historical monument, which gives them a legal advantage.

In a video clip, Andrew Tate criticized the institutions investigating him, claiming that they affect investments in Romania.

Lawyer Alexandru Rîșniță explained that the Tate brothers want to buy the Continental Hotel and establish their residence in Cluj, as they wish to avoid the crowd and "they want to renovate it there, to make a big house."

Cluj City Hall, ready to block the purchase

The building is not officially for sale, and local authorities emphasize that they have not received documents certifying the intention to sell.

According to the press, the building, a symbol of the center of Cluj and a historical monument, has a special legal status, and in the case of the sale of a historical monument, state institutions benefit from the right of preemption.

"Until this moment, no request regarding the intention to transfer the property of the Continental Hotel has been registered with the local authority. In the situation where the local authority is notified regarding the intention to transfer, it will proceed to rule on the exercise of the right of preemption," the representatives of Cluj-Napoca City Hall stated.
