Iran has banned its sports teams from traveling to countries it considers "hostile," according to an announcement from the Ministry of Sports, ahead of the Tractor SC team's match in the Asian Champions League, scheduled in Saudi Arabia. This decision was made following the US-Israel attacks on Iran, which escalated the conflict.
The ministry emphasized that the presence of national and club teams in countries that cannot ensure the safety of Iranian athletes is prohibited until further notice. Additionally, the ministry has requested the football federation and clubs to inform the Asian Football Confederation for the relocation of matches.
Although a list of hostile countries was not specified, the ban affects matches in Saudi Arabia, where the quarter-finals of the competition will also take place. Furthermore, Iran is facing difficulties regarding participation in this year's World Cup, considering security concerns in the US, where they were supposed to play.
