The Constitutional Court of Romania has rejected the appeal of FCSB, led by Gigi Becali, which requested the declaration of the unconstitutionality of the Trademark Law. This decision means that Becali no longer has any possibility of regaining the right to use the name Steaua Bucharest. Furthermore, the Army club, CSA Steaua, will resume the civil process for damages of 37 million euros, demanded by the Ministry of Defense.
The first hearing of this process is set for April 8 at the Bucharest Tribunal. Radu Miruță, the Minister of Defense, stated that it is an "injustice" that the players of CSA Steaua cannot promote to the first league due to a "legislative limitation" and promised that he would announce methods to eliminate this barrier. Additionally, Miruță requested an audit report to assess management issues and the spending of public funds at the CSA Steaua club. Also, following a decision by the High Court of Cassation and Justice in June 2025, FCSB does not own the history of Steaua, and the team cannot promote to the first league due to FRF rules, which require that teams in the first league be privately owned. The change of the sports law has been discussed, but without concrete results so far.
