Gigi Becali launched a fierce attack on AUR leader George Simion after the party announced that it would submit a no-confidence motion against the government led by Luca Niculescu. The FCSB owner reacted in an interview with Fanatik, labeling opposition representatives “thugs,” “louts” and “puppets,” and called for them to be arrested if they tried to block the government’s activities.
Becali argued that Romania needs stability and told George Simion to let the government continue its mandate. In his statement, he spoke about sending those who submit the motion to Jilava prison, under closed-regime conditions, without presenting any legal arguments for these claims.
The reaction comes after AUR announced that it would fulfill its role as an opposition party. George Simion said the party would submit the motion if the government assumes responsibility, particularly over a budget rectification bill. The AUR leader cited previous motions filed against the Bolojan government and said that the party “will do its duty as an opposition party.”
