The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) has announced that it has submitted the first part of the candidacy file to host the UEFA Europa League final at the National Arena in Bucharest in 2028 or 2029. The project benefits from the support of the Bucharest City Hall and the Government of Romania, which takes an active role in realizing the candidacy.
Hosting this event is considered essential for promoting Romanian football and for the international image of the country. The FRF emphasizes that the final could serve as an organizational model for clubs in Romania, integrating football with the community and businesses. Romania is competing with France, Italy, Serbia, and Turkey to host the final, and the host cities will be announced in June. Hosting the final is seen as an opportunity for the development of sports infrastructure in Bucharest.
