The Emergency Committee of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) adopted on Tuesday the implementation of the 'Multiball' system in competitions organized by the FRF, with the aim of increasing the effective playing time and preventing unjustified delays. This system will be mandatory in the SuperLiga and in the Romanian Cup starting from the quarter-finals, as well as in matches in the group stage between teams from the SuperLiga. Additionally, 'Multiball' will be used in all finals of youth and junior competitions, both for men and women.
The 'Multiball' system will use 15 balls, of which one will be in play, one will be in the possession of the fourth official, and 13 will be reserve balls, placed uniformly on the field. The reserve balls will be positioned on special stands, and players will resume play with the reserve balls as soon as they go out of play. Participants in the matches are required to adhere to the 'Multiball' protocol, and failure to comply will result in penalties for the organizing clubs.
