The Formula 1 governing body has announced a thermal risk for the second consecutive race at the United States Grand Prix, which will take place in Austin. The race director, Rui Marques, informed the teams that the heat index will exceed 31 degrees Celsius during the sprint on Saturday or the Grand Prix on Sunday.
The regulations allow drivers to use cooling vests or add extra ballast to their cars. Although vests will become mandatory in high-temperature conditions starting next season, not all drivers agree with their use; Max Verstappen, a four-time world champion, stated that he prefers not to use the vest, believing it should be a personal choice.
