Football Manager 2026, eagerly awaited by fans, was released with many promises but quickly became a disappointment. Sports Interactive decided to change the game engine to Unity, which led to the cancellation of the initial release. Although the new version brings improvements such as an expanded database and more realistic animations, fans complained about an overwhelming and slow user interface. The criticism was harsh, and the game received the lowest Metacritic score in the last 16 years, with an average of 72. Although some reviews were positive, most users believe that FM 2026 does not meet expectations and that previous versions were much better executed.
