Florin Cernat, a former well-known footballer, has been chosen by FCSB to take on the role of sporting director. Meme Stoica, an official of the club, announced that Cernat will start his duties next week, after the match against FC Voluntari. Stoica joked that Cernat's office will be more in the plane or in the car, considering that he will be looking for players. Cernat, who has extensive experience in football, has been praised by colleagues for his character, being described as a man who does not argue and who is well-connected in the football world. Although he played for the rival Dinamo, Cernat has close ties with FCSB, being the godfather of Mihai Stoica. Cernat had an impressive career, playing for teams such as Oțelul Galați, Dinamo Bucharest, and Dinamo Kiev, and he retired from active play in 2018.
