Daron Russell, an American basketball player who obtained Romanian citizenship in October, will debut for the national team of Romania in the FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifiers. Coach Mihai Silvășan confirmed that Russell will be part of the squad preparing for the matches against Greece and Montenegro. The national team has gathered in Pitești for training, and Silvășan emphasized the importance of discipline and collective effort. Player Emanuel Cățe mentioned the challenge of the match against Greece, a top team, and expressed the team's enthusiasm to play together. Romania will face Greece on November 27 and Montenegro on November 30, having a squad made up of 11 players, including Russell.
