18-year-old striker David Creța will represent Romania after FIFA approved the change of association. The footballer, registered with TSG Hoffenheim, has so far played for Germany's U16 and U17 national teams, but chose to wear the Romanian national team shirt.
The Romanian Football Federation announced that it had received official approval for the change of national team. Born in April 2008 in Cluj-Napoca, David Creța has lived in Germany since the age of two and is considered one of Hoffenheim's most promising young strikers.
For Germany, Creța made 18 appearances at U16 and U17 level and scored five goals. According to the message published by the Romanian National Football Team, he is the first Romanian youth international to choose Romania after having played for the national team of a country whose league is ranked among the world's top five.
The striker's decision represents an important achievement for the FRF, which is trying to attract Romanian players developed abroad to the national teams. Creța can now be called up for Romania's national teams.
