Pitești begins construction of the “Nicolae Dobrin” stadium, a 15,200-seat arena financed by the Ministry of Development and local authorities

Construction of the Nicolae Dobrin Stadium has begun in Pitești, following the placement of a time capsule at the site, as part of a project valued at more than 374 million lei. The investment is funded by the Ministry of Development through the National Investment Company, with a 25% contribution from the local authority.

Development Minister Cseke Attila announced the start of the works on Wednesday and said that financial support from the local community was necessary to launch the project.

The new arena will have a capacity of 15,200 seats and will be classified as a Category 4 stadium, in accordance with the “UEFA Stadium Infrastructure Regulations – Edition 2020”. The stadium will cover an area of approximately 68,800 square metres and will consist of a partial basement, ground floor and three upper floors.

The project includes the main football pitch, facilities for spectators, players, officials and media representatives, as well as athletics training tracks. The complex will also feature commercial areas, food service facilities, recreational areas and outdoor urban spaces.

According to the minister, the new sports infrastructure could allow international competitions to be hosted and will contribute to the development of the city of Pitești.
